In the Beginning, God—The Origin of Every Human Life
What if the key to healing your emotions is not fixing what is broken right now?
What if it isn’t another strategy, another round of self-analysis, or another attempt to “get it right this time”?
What if the deepest shift begins not with what happened to you, but with remembering who was already there, long before anything went wrong?
I remain captivated by those four words that open the entire Bible:
“In the beginning, God…”
They are not just the start of a story about the universe.
They are the start of your story.
We must understand that at the origin of every human life, there is God.
Not as a distant observer.
Not as a judge waiting to see how we turn out.
But the intimate Artist who, with great intention, formed you for purpose and delight.
The psalmist David, thousands of years ago, stood in awe of this very truth and poured it out in Psalm 139:
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar…
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
(Psalm 139:1–2, 13–14 NIV)
He goes further:
Your frame was not hidden from Him when you were made in the secret place.
His eyes saw your unformed body.
All the days ordained for you were written in His book before one of them came to be.
This is not sentimental poetry or motivational wallpaper.
This is foundational reality.
Before your first heartbeat.
Before your first cry.
Before your first mistake, your first wound, your first memory of shame or disappointment,
God already knew you.
Intimately.
Completely.
He planned your days with care.
He crafted you with inherent honor and respect, declaring your existence good before the world ever had a chance to tell you otherwise.
That original design, fearfully and wonderfully made, has never been erased.
It has been distorted by the fall, covered by layers of hurt, doubt, and the broken systems we live in.
But it has not been deleted.
The blueprint still exists in Him.
And because it still exists, restoration is possible.
Wherever you find yourself today, whether in a season of clarity or in the thick fog of confusion, pain, or self-doubt, this truth remains unshaken:
Your beginning was not random.
Your beginning was not an accident.
Your beginning was God.
Pause right now, wherever today (or any day) finds you.
Open Psalm 139:13–16, or read the condensed version above again slowly.
Let the words land without rushing.
Then ask yourself one honest question:
“What would change in my life, even just a little, if I truly believed that God still sees me the way He saw me in the beginning: fearfully and wonderfully made?”
Do not force an answer.
Just let the question sit with you.
Maybe journal it.
Maybe whisper it in prayer.
Maybe simply hold it in silence for a few breaths.
The shift often begins not with a loud revelation, but with a quiet willingness to remember.
When life goes wrong, and it does for all of us, we tend to obsess over “why.”
Why this happened. Why now? Why me?
